There is great confidence in the knowledge that God is intentional and in control. It’s an anchor for your soul.

Before creation, God had chosen you to be in Christ and designated to you the position of sonship. The result is that you can remain constant, despite the turmoil around you in the world. Your identity is that of a beloved son, chosen by God.

You have been placed in the Body in a particular environment by the Holy Spirit, who searches the mind of God concerning His purpose for your life. God has chosen your family for you, in which you are to grow and mature.

Everything about you is designer made, in accordance with God’s purpose. Your gifts, talents and personality are all a part of God’s choosing, to make Himself known uniquely through you to the world. He who began this good work in you, is faithful to complete it.

“Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according to His plan.” – Ephesians 1:11

Theme Description

It’s been a couple of months since Sam Soleyn made a significant deposit into this spiritual household. This month we will once again have a few different guest speakers who have different graces which they bring to the body. It’s becoming more important for us to understand how these gifts are given for our edification.

God has appointed apostles first in the church and secondly prophets. It is on these two foundational gifts that He builds His household. Apostles draw from heaven, after ascending and descending, the revelation from the Word, bringing us the mind of God. Prophets draw revelation from the heart of God, and will always submit that revelation to the doctrine of the prophets to ensure its credibility. Pastors and teachers then break the bread (the Word) for the people, so that they can reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God.

It is on this revelation of the heart and mind of God that the church is built. All the other gifts serve the Body of Christ, so that we can all come into maturity. We are all to grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Let us receive these gifts from God and let each of us do our part as we speak the truth and build one another up in love.

Expressions of our Father

Theme Description

What a glorious feast we had last month. The Word came to us as bread from heaven. As we eat and digest it, it takes on flesh in us and Christ is formed more fully in us.

The Word came to earth, became flesh, to show us the Father. Jesus Christ came in human form and was like us in every way. Even though He is Spirit, He had a soul that could be in anguish and He was restricted to the same physical body that we are. In this form, He came to show us Who the Father is, how we can be reconciled to Him and how we can relate to Him while on earth.

From before the creation, His intent and purpose in creating the heavens and the earth, was to facilitate producing sons that would fully represent Him. This would conclude as all those who are born again of His Spirit are assembled in the Son as the radiance of The Father’s glory and the exact representation of His being.

We will continue to allow Christ to be fully formed in us and to mature into the standard of Christ that represents our Father. This is how we will rule in the earth, representing the house of God and the standard of heaven on earth.

Disciple shift

August – September

Theme Description

“Multiply and fill the earth”, was God’s instruction to Adam. Had this instruction been ignored, that would have been the end of mankind. The result of his obedience to that mandate is that billions of us are here today. It’s that simple.

Jesus gave the same instruction to the spiritual sons of God. “Go and reproduce yourself as my followers. Teach them to follow me and to make followers who will do the same”. This disciple-making mandate would ensure that the sons of God would fill the earth and bring the kingdom of heaven into the earth. The kingdom of God is in the sons of God and is established in the earth as we reproduce and become more Christ-like. Jesus said that He only did that which His Father showed Him to do. He also declared this to be about seeking and saving the lost. If we are to be Jesus-followers who are about our Father’s business, there must come a shift in our attitude and commitment towards making disciples.

It’s not a program or class that we send people to attend. It’s much more about us being willing to be led by the Holy Spirit to those whom He is drawing to Himself and to teach them how to obey His instructions, by our example. Putting God first has more to do with our hearts than with our resources. Is God’s agenda your agenda? Let’s gear up and make disciples.

Like my father

Theme Description

It’s been quite an eye opening experience to realize that the tithe is more personal to Jesus than what we think – as it reflects our heart for His bride and He actually receives it in heaven (Heb 7:11). It’s also more personal to the Father than what we think, as He gave His Son as the first fruit “tithe” offering to redeem us.

We are not redeemed to be able to go to heaven, but to be reconciled to our Father and to become more like Him. The curse is the consequence of being separated from our Father, from His provision and protection – fatherlessness. The blessing is more than just receiving provision and protection from our Father; it’s actually becoming more like Him.

It is more blessed to give than to receive, because generosity is our Father’s nature and we are blessed as His nature and character is formed in us. Finances are the greatest test of our heart. It’s so easy to see if someone loves God, loves His Church, and loves His work by their financial giving. Yet there are many ways in which we can allow the Father to be reflected through us. In doing so, we are blessed.

By being in His presence we become more like Him, revealing more of our Father and the standard of heaven here on earth. That is the blessed life.

God’s House

Theme Description

God has determined to bring His house into the earth. He purposed this in Himself, made an oath with Himself to bring it about and made provision for it in Himself. He breathed His Spirit into clay and brought about sons in the earth.

The enemy caused us to live as orphans, but The Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the earth is the provision to reconcile us to the Father.

We have all been given the ministry of reconciliation and can bring others who live as orphans back to the Father. We do this as we
ourselves mature as sons, in the image of Christ (the firstborn amongst many brothers).

These mature sons become spiritual fathers that raise up sons to
maturity. These spiritual families are a part of households of faith that are all part of the house of God on the earth, a holy nation. There is an order in the house of God that is the answer to the disorder in the world which resulted from being separated from the Father.

City on a hill

April – Passover

Theme Description

We migrate into what God is doing in the earth, by recognising the season. Part of what God is doing is establishing His house in the earth. He is raising up sons to maturity, who become fathers to raise sons to maturity. The picture is of a family, a household in the earth to reconcile man to God.

Micah 4:1-4. “But when all is said and done, God’s (House) on the mountain, firmly fixed, will dominate all mountains, towering above surrounding hills. People will stream to it and many nations set out for it, saying, “Come, let’s climb God’s mountain. Let’s go to the (House) of Jacob’s God. He will teach us how to live. We’ll know how to live God’s way.” True teaching will issue from Zion, God’s
revelation from Jerusalem. He’ll establish justice in the rabble of nations and settle disputes in faraway places. They’ll trade in their swords for shovels, their spears for rakes and hoes. Nations will quit fighting each other, quit learning how to kill one another. Each man will sit under his own shade tree, each woman in safety will tend her own garden. God-of-the-Angel-Armies says so, and He means what He says.”

What a glorious picture of the Body of Christ! Established and un-
movable, the house of God in the earth. Nations coming to the Body of Christ to learn His ways. His Kingdom to come and His will to be done!

Theme Description

The sons of Issachar had a good understanding of the times and knew what Israel had to do as a result (1Chron 12:32). God placed signs in creation for us to anticipate what He would bring into the earth as a spiritual realty.

The Body of Christ is the “location” where heaven comes to earth. We are where the eternal picture impacts the temporal – where the Kingdom is established on earth. The Word that created all things became flesh and lived in the earthly realm to make the picture of heaven a reality on earth. That which is already completed in heaven finds its complete expression on earth through a body. The Body of Christ.

For the Kingdom of heaven to become a reality on the earth, the Body of Christ must understand the times. We must identify the Word of God becoming flesh in our day. We must know what God is doing so that we can know what to do as co-labourers with Christ. In Christ we will then function in a full measure of His glory, in grace and truth.

The Word became flesh and lived amongst us. We saw His glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Entering the new season

Theme Description

It’s not a man-made thing. We don’t enter a new season because it’s a new year or because someone wants it to be so.
God does it in accordance with His purposes in the earth.

In ancient times seasons changed slowly, but as we approach the end of the age they will come all the more frequently. It’s how God will bring to birth the reality of heaven until it becomes the reality on earth. He does this through His church who together are the Body of Christ.

Before we even know what the season is (although many already have a very good idea), we need to understand how seasons come and what our response should be to usher it in. That will be our focus for this month, but the lessons need to be applied on a continuous basis.

Don’t refuse to move. God is moving and we are moving too. If you stay behind, you will have to sustain your activity by yourself.

Theme Description

For every thing there is a season. In our personal lives, in our families, as a community, as a nation, as a spiritual house and also for the body Christ there are seasons. A time for a particular season is appointed by God and it is very important to recognize when it arrives and when its time is over.

As we enter a new year, people often resolve to change their behaviour or attitude in positive ways. Without an understanding of what God is doing, we can easily resort to trying to do better (good works), without knowing what it is God is wanting to accomplish in and through us.

God Himself provides the grace for the season He brings us into. If we refuse to move on with God, we are left behind to continue in our own strength.

This year we are going to learn to operate in His economy of grace as we move by His Spirit into the new season God has for us.
